Paragliding in Pokhara

Pokhara, Nepal

Soar Above the Himalayas with Paragliding in Pokhara

Experience the thrill of flying like a bird over Pokhara—one of the world's top paragliding destinations. With the Annapurna range as your backdrop, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain) on the horizon, and Phewa Lake shimmering below, a tandem flight from Sarangkot is among the most unforgettable adventure activities in Nepal.

No prior experience is required. A certified pilot handles takeoff, navigation, and landing while you enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayas and Pokhara Valley.

Why Pokhara is One of the Best Paragliding Destinations

Pokhara's unique geography creates ideal flying conditions year-round. Steady thermals, reliable wind patterns, and a dramatic landscape of lakes, valleys, and snow-capped peaks make it a favorite among pilots and travelers from around the world.

What You'll See from the Sky

  • Phewa Lake and the Lakeside promenade
  • Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain) and the Annapurna range
  • Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Dhaulagiri
  • Sarangkot Hill and the terraced hills surrounding the valley
  • Pumdikot Shiva statue, villages, and the Seti Gandaki River below

Flight Options

Standard Tandem Flight

The most popular choice for first-time flyers. A smooth 20–30 minute glide from Sarangkot down to a landing zone near Phewa Lake.

Duration: 20–30 minutes airtime
Total activity: 1.5–2 hours (including transport and briefing)
Best for: Families, couples, solo travelers, and beginners

Cross Country Flight

A longer route that covers more distance across the valley, offering extended airtime and varied scenery over the countryside.

Best for: Adventurers who want a more expansive flying experience

Cloud Buster / Thermal Flight

Designed for those seeking greater altitude and longer airtime. Pilots use thermal currents to climb higher for enhanced mountain views.

Best for: Thrill-seekers and repeat flyers

The Paragliding Experience

1. Pickup and Drive to Sarangkot

Most operators pick you up from Lakeside Pokhara for a scenic 30-minute drive to the launch site at Sarangkot (approximately 1,592 m / 5,223 ft).

2. Safety Briefing

Before takeoff, your pilot covers equipment, launch and landing procedures, what to expect in the air, and emergency protocols.

3. Takeoff

You run a few steps with your pilot as the wing inflates, then lift off from the hillside. The sensation is surprisingly smooth—not like a roller coaster.

4. In the Air

During your flight you may experience thermal soaring, gentle turns over the valley, and optional acrobatic maneuvers if conditions and your comfort level allow. GoPro photo and video packages are widely available.

5. Landing

Flights typically land in an open field near Phewa Lake, close to the Lakeside area, followed by transport back to your hotel.

Pricing

Prices vary by operator, season, and package. Standard tandem flights typically start from around:

NPR 8,500 per person

Premium packages may include extended flight time, HD video, professional photos, and hotel transfers. Always confirm what is included before booking.
